tips and watch-outs from families who've been there
sleep
- Rooms are spread out across five buildings; The Estate House and Purser's Wing are the most centrally located, but all are an easy walk
- Book a room with a terrace or balcony; ground floor rooms give your kids easy access to the lawn
- Dogs are allowed in select ground floor rooms
play
- There is a ton of green space for your kids to run around, as well as some lawn games.
- The outdoor pool is a very pretty and popular with families, but there's only one pool on the property so be prepared to be around some adults looking for more quiet relaxation.
- The hotel has kayaks you can borrow (free), or you can go out on one of their boats ($).
- There are three tennis courts and they offer lessons for kids.
eat
- The main onsite restaurant, Stars, is great for all meals - sit outside so your kids can run around.
- For casual dining, go to the pub or the pool bar.
- If you want a more unique dining experience, you can rent a private hut by the water.
- You can bike into the town of St. Michaels to pick up food (note: they only have adult-sized bikes).
